10 other amazing uses for our nipple balm

Nipple balms are specifically designed to soothe, heal and protect sore or cracked nipples during breastfeeding. However, nipple balm can also be used for a huge variety of other purposes.

Mumma Bear’s nipple balm is packed with ingredients that have anti-inflammatory, healing, soothing, nourishing & protective properties which work together with your bodies own healing process.

Here are 10 other amazing uses for nipple balm:

Lip balm: Our nipple balm can be used as an intensely moisturising lip balm to hydrate and soothe dry, chapped lips. In fact, many of our mumma’s & their families used our nipple balm so often on their lips, that they requested a lip balm version so they could easily take it on the go & their nipple balm jars would be left alone & safe from kids & husbands hands. Our nipple (and lip) balm is feeding safe so there is no need to worry about any accidental ingestion when using it on your lips.

Cradle Cap: a common condition in infants that causes scaly, crusty patches on the scalp. While it is not harmful, it can be a little unsightly and can sometimes cause discomfort & be itchy for bubs . Our Nipple balm can help with cradle cap in a few ways:

Moisturising the scalp: as our nipple  balm is designed to deeply moisturise and protect dry, sensitive skin. Applying a small amount of nipple balm to the affected area can help to hydrate and soften the cradle cap, making it easier to remove with gentle brushing, with a soft brush or comb, and lift the cradle cap away.

Soothing irritation: Cradle cap can cause itching and irritation on the scalp, which can be uncomfortable for your baby. Our nipple balm contains soothing ingredients which can help to reduce inflammation and soothe the skin.

Loosening those scales: Nipple balm can help to loosen the scales on the scalp, making them easier to lift away with a gentle comb, soft brush or soft face washer in the bath.. Applying nipple balm, gently massaging it into the scalp & leaving it to soak for a little bit can help to break down the patches and make them easier to brush away.

Bottom Balm / Nappy Rash Cream: Nipple balm can also be used as a nappy rash cream to soothe and protect a baby's delicate skin. Our natural nipple balm does 3 things here  - actively heals, soothes and creates a protective barrier between your bub’s sensitive skin & their nappy (and the contents of the nappy!).

Give your little one some nappy free time, ensuring the area is well aired and dry & apply our nipple balm to the affected areas as you pop a new nappy on. Calendula is a powerhouse of anti-fungal, antibacterial & anti-inflammatory properties. This makes it especially useful for soothing & aiding in healing of skin conditions like eczema & nappy rash.

Eczema & dermatitis relief: Another use of our Nipple balm that many mums reported using the nipple balm for. Myself and my first born also suffer from eczema, and using the balm has been a godsend for soothing our skin and helping boost healing whenever we have a flare up!

Our natural nipple balm can be used to soothe, heal and most importantly - relieve the itching & inflammation that comes with eczema-prone skin. High in vitamin E, fatty acids & antibacterial properties, our Nipple Balm is a great natural solution to calming and healing those flare ups.

Dry & cracked heels: Nipple balm contains ingredients that can help to hydrate and soften dry, cracked skin on the heels. This can help to reduce discomfort and prevent further cracking. Cracked heels can be painful & uncomfortable, but by applying our Nipple balm, you can help reduce inflammation & soothe your irritated skin, thanks to the moisturising, restorative & supportive properties - keeping the skin soft & supple, reducing further cracking & can even help speed up the healing process.

Soothe itchy stretch marks: Due to its moisturising and soothing properties, Our nipple balm can be a great option for soothing itchy stretch marks. It’s natural, safe to use during pregnancy & feels amazing with its fast soaking, non greasy formula. Stretch marks are often caused by the stretching of the skin during pregnancy or weight gain. This can cause the skin to become dry and itchy. Nipple balm contains ingredients that help to hydrate and soften the skin, reducing itchiness, soothe inflammation and calm irritated skin

Overall, nipple balm can be a great option for soothing itchy stretch marks. However, it's important to note that stretch marks are a natural part of the skin's response to stretching. While nipple balm can help to reduce discomfort, if you are wanting a product that can help soothe that itch AND help reduce the appearance of stretch marks, you’ll definitely want to check out our gorgeous stretch mark butter.

Insect bites: As a sensitive person to any insect bites myself, this one is a bit of a lifesaver for me. Nipple balm can be used on insect bites to help soothe and alleviate discomfort. Our nipple balm can calm the affected area with its anti-inflammatory properties and creates a protective barrier, allowing you to fight those bites from the inside out.

Before using, it’s important to clean the affected area well & ensure the skin is dry before applying. You will find the balm to help soothe irritation, hydrate & support the skin to boost healing.

Sunburn & peeling: Olive Fruit Oil is known as a cell regenerator and is high in vitamin E content. This works on sunburn by attracting moisture to the skin while still permitting it to release sweat, shed dead skin & release sebum. This magic ingredient makes up the most of our 6 ingredients in our nipple balm. Pair this with the other 5 natural ingredients, all designed to heal, soothe, calm and protect - using our nipple balm on your sunburn will help you feel more comfortable & will help aid the healing process.

Minor Burns: Using nipple balm on minor burns can be helpful at soothing discomfort, protecting the wound from any outside nasties & help with healing. Ensure the area is clean & dry before applying. The antibacterial & skin regenerating properties, paired with its ability to act as a barrier make a great combination of healing and protection to any minor burn.

Drool rash / snot rash: Allergies, change of season, colds, daycare, and teething - all big culprits of the dreaded drool rash. Rashes created from drool or snot can be quite uncomfortable for bubs.

Applying our nipple balm to the area (don’t forget to clean and dry before using!) will help address the irritation, protect bub's skin from ecess drool by acting as a barrier & will help boost bub’s own healing process by supporting their skin as it heals and regenerates.

It is worth noting that not all nipple balms are made the same. Some use natural ingredients, some use synthetic ingredients and some creams out there just have one or two ingredients that address limited requirements for the skin.

Mumma Bear’s natural nipple balm contains 6 natural organic ingredients. Zero nasties. Zero synthetics. And all designed to work together to put a healing powerhouse right at your fingertips.

So there we have it! Whilst there are many uses to using nipple balm (outside of the obvious), if your skin ever needs a little bit of help, nourishment, protection and love - it’s definitely worth using a natural nipple balm, like ours, to help aid healing whilst ensuring you are using natural & safe ingredients.
